Mexico expands C-130J Super Hercules fleet with second aircraft

The Fuerza Aérea Mexicana has announced the acquisition of a second Lockheed Martin C-130J-30 Super Hercules tactical airlifter, further strengthening Mexico's position as a regional leader in air mobility. This latest procurement follows the country's first Super Hercules acquisition, announced in January 2026, which marked Mexico as the first nation in Latin America to join the global C-130J Super Hercules operator community.

As a long-standing Hercules operator, the Fuerza Aérea Mexicana  is modernizing its tactical airlift fleet with the C-130J-30 Super Hercules, the stretched variant of the proven platform that offers an additional 15 feet of cargo space. The aircraft delivers enhanced power, range, fuel efficiency and payload capacity, enabling the FAM to meet a broad spectrum of airlift missions while capitalizing on decades of experience operating, maintaining and supporting Hercules aircraft.

The Super Hercules provides capabilities unmatched in the tactical airlift segment, combining certified multi-mission flexibility, proven operational performance, global interoperability and industry-leading reliability. The fleet expansion comes at a pivotal time. Following the devastating earthquakes in Venezuela, Mexico's first C-130J-30 was rapidly deployed to transport emergency supplies, medical assistance and response personnel to affected communities. The addition of a second aircraft will significantly enhance that capacity, strengthening Mexico's ability to deliver humanitarian relief across Latin America while further reinforcing its strategic air mobility role in support of regional stability and security.
