Airways International has entered into a new five-year partnership with the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM), extending the use of its SureSelect air traffic control (ATC) candidate assessment and selection platform. Under the agreement, CAAM will continue to leverage Airways International’s suite of ATC-specific assessment tools to support the recruitment and selection of future air traffic controllers. Designed to identify high-potential candidates before significant training investments are made, SureSelect provides a structured, data-driven approach to evaluating the cognitive and behavioural competencies critical to success in the ATC profession.

James Evans, General Manager Commercial at Airways International, said the renewed partnership highlights both organisations’ commitment to building a strong and sustainable air traffic control workforce for Malaysia’s future aviation sector:“We're proud to be partnering with CAAM in supporting the recruitment and selection of future air traffic controllers in Malaysia. SureSelect draws on Airways New Zealand’s decades of operational and training experience and provides organisations with an objective, evidence-based approach to candidate selection. We look forward to working alongside CAAM as they continue to strengthen their air traffic control workforce.”

Dato’ Captain Norazman Mahmud, Chief Executive Officer of CAA Malaysia stated: “Air traffic controllers perform a highly specialised and safety-critical role. Through SureSelect, CAAM will adopt a structured and evidence-based approach to identifying candidates with the aptitude and competencies required to succeed in ATC training, supporting the development of a strong and capable workforce to meet Malaysia’s future operational needs.”

Selecting the right candidates is a vital first step in the air traffic controller training pathway. By identifying high-potential talent early in the recruitment process, SureSelect enables organisations to optimise training investments, improve candidate success rates, and build a resilient pipeline of future ATC professionals.

The SureSelect platform is trusted by air navigation service providers across the Asia-Pacific, Middle East, and Africa regions, helping them make informed, evidence-based recruitment decisions for safety-critical operational roles. The new agreement with CAAM further strengthens Airways International’s long-standing partnership with Malaysia and underscores its commitment to advancing aviation growth and air traffic management capability throughout the Asia-Pacific region.
